According to your post, my understanding is that you want to add code to InfoPath 2010.

The minimum system requirement to get started with InfoPath 2010 development is Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, but we suggest you install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 if you’re developing for the SharePoint platform.

In addition, you need to install Visual Studio Tools for Applications.
