Does anyone know if there is a difference in functionality for SharePoint if I use ADFS vs CA SiteMinder. I know about the people picker and I'm not worried about that.
The reason I ask this question is because when using CA SiteMinder some functionality is lost. My hypothesis is that because we use SunOne as our backend instead of using AD it loses presence and other functions because you are authenticating against SunOne LDAP and not ADDS. This is the way is has been designed for other apache web services used by the company. I want to know if we start using ADFS instead of SiteMinder and have AD as the backend to that system that we shouldn't have to worry about any lost functionality except for what is lost when converting from classic mode. If so then ADFS is a huge gain!
