They use that detail report to have some overall view what's going on with items assigned to them or to their team.
From a typical user pespective (no tech skills) I think it could be quite confusing and not user friendly to create some 'complicated' connections from Excel. SSRS reports are here much more user friendly and simple. User don't need to go to other place to take the data, but the performance is a pain... but still being more user friendly is more important than lower performance, at least for now... any other idea?
