According to Craig Freedman's presentation here; Intra-query parallel deadlocks are slow to resolve by SQL Server; I suppose this could be the reason for not seeing any exceptions.
Did you analyzed the execution plans? Is parallelism required for your workload? Is the query utilizing indexes properly (index seeks?)? Are you querying large data?
