Wide clustered key

I usually add CLUSTERED SURROGATE KEY, to reference current table from other table(FK relationship).

Table usually has more than one index - and wide clustered is not appropriate to reside in every non-clustered index.

But if table has only one index and there is no foreign key to this table, the clustered index on PK should work better(at least there is one column less). Any reason why add surrogate key is such case?
