ToolbarTemplate property not working in Custom Feature

Do you mean you have followed every step in the blog, and it doesn’t work?

Please do not remove the DefaultViewTemplate file from layouts folder, it is highly not recommended to change the default files on server location.

About the blog, have you register the tag prefix in the custom ascx control in step 11, I would suggest you to recheck the steps in the blog, whether you have any steps missed.
