Hi,
The standard view in slide library can be grouped by custom columns, however some types of column cannot be used to group items, such as multiple line of text type.
In addition, if the column is set to allow multiple values, then the column will not be available to group the items.
So I recommend to check the type of the column you created and if the column is set to allow multiple values.
