Microsoft Speech Recognition - method recognition

I think the Wikipedia Article is quite interesting:

The real question is: Why do you ask? What do you want to do with an answer, if we can even supply one (this could very well be corporate secret).

One thing to keep in mind is that MS Speech is only the API around the Speech recognition/synthesis engine. The engine can be repalced (afaik each Voice is actualyl a different Engine) and you can write an engine to be used with the API.
