Okay, I can't really image where you are right now unless you'll post down your existing code on your entire background worker thread.
Its best if you use RunWorkerCompleted event for representing UI. Do Work is responsible in handling expensive instructions.
If it takes too long for it to be completed and it is out of your control, you can make use of the progress bar to make it still presentable,
Tip: Main thread should handle UI stuffs and background thread for non UI.
