Cascading parameters work like this
You pass first parameter as a parameter for the query which will populate the values for the second parameter. ie dataset for param 2 will have param 1 passed as an argument. The data types of param1 and param2 can be different. Only thing is the field to which param 1 is compared in param 2's dataset query should have a data type which is compatible with param 1
