Insert xml data into SQL server via SqlBulkCopy with powershell (casting error)

Treating the XML like a string worked for me, eg

(New-Object System.Data.DataColumn -ArgumentList @("EventLogXML"       , [System.string]    ))

...


$row.Item("EventLogXML")        = $xml.InnerXml
